ICAR-IIWM Celebrates 31st Institute Foundation Day


ICAR- Indian Institute of Water Management celebrated its 31st Foundation Day on 12th May 2018. On the occasion, Dr. V.N. Sharda, Ex-member, Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board was the Chief Guest of the program. Dr. Sharda delivered the Foundation Day Lecture on the topic 'Challenges of natural resource degradation and managing water for posterity'. He dwelt upon the land resource degradation and its consequences on future agriculture scenario of the country. Further he emphasised to carry out the research work keeping national perspective in mind. Dr. H. Pathak, Director, NRRI, Cuttack was the Guest of Honour and the meeting was presided over by Dr. S.K. Ambast, Director of the institute. Apart from the staffs of ICAR-IIWM, the program was attended by the Directors and Heads of the local ICAR institutes and regional centres. After the lecture, Institute Proficiency Awards in the administrative, technical and supporting staff categories were given by the Chief Guest. The Foundation Day Lecture was succeeded by the Brainstorming Workshop on 'Way forward for application of agricultural technologies in aspirational districts of Odisha'. Presentation on the topic was done by Dr. P. Nanda, Dr. H.K. Dash, Dr. M.K. Sinha and Dr. P.K. Panda of ICAR-IIWM. After the presentations, discussion was done on the topic and planning was done to carry out agricultural development of a few clusters of villages in the aspirational districts of Odisha by the combined effort of the ICAR institutes located in the state. Dr. V.N. Sharda, Chief Guest and Dr. H. Pathak, Guest of Honour also expressed their views on the topic. The program ended with vote of thanks. In the evening, cultural program was organised which was attended by the institute staffs and their family members. Director Dr. S.K. Ambast felicitated the participants who performed in the cultural program. The entire program was coordinated by Dr. S. Mohanty and Dr. H. K. Dash, Principal Scientists and Dr. P. Panigrahi, Senior Scientist of the institute.
