ICAR-Indian Institute of Water Management, Bhubaneswar celebrated India's 72nd Independence Day on 15th August 2018 in its premises. Director and staff of the institute joined the celebration. Director, Dr. S.K. Ambast hoisted the national flag which was followed by recital of national anthem. In his address to the staff of the institute, Director remembered the contribution of freedom fighters and visionary leaders in nation making and nation building process. He reminded all of the impending challenges, particularly water related challenges that the country is facing in agriculture sector and called upon scientists to work for overcoming the challenges. He urged the scientists to focus on applied farm and farmer-centric research to double farmers' income by 2022 through efficient and effective water management in agriculture. He expressed satisfaction at ICAR-IIWM bagging the ICAR's best Institution Award for 2017 under small institution category, and complimented scientists and staff for their endeavour. In the beginning, Director and staff offered floral tributes to the father of nation.
