An awareness-cum-demonstration programme on Balanced Use of Fertilizers and Khet Bachao Abhiyan was organized on 5th June 2026 at Kunchipada village under Balipatna block of Khordha district

Description:

An awareness-cum-demonstration programme on Balanced Use of Fertilizers (BUF) and Khet Bachao Abhiyan was organized on 5th June 2026 from 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM at Kunchipada village under Balipatna block of Khordha district, Odisha, under the Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav (MGMG) programme. The programme was conducted by Dr. S. Mohanty, Dr. Shridhar Patra and Dr. Hemant Dash, with the active participation of 54 farmers, including 23 women farmers. The program was presided over by Zilla Parishad Member Sri Gangadhar Mallick as the Chief guest. Scientists discussed the importance of balanced nutrient management for addressing declining soil fertility and rising cultivation costs, highlighting the role of organic amendments, composting, crop residue recycling, pulse-based crop rotations, bio-fertilizers, and efficient fertilizer use in sustaining soil health and crop productivity and save the soil for the future generations under Khet Bachao Abhiyan campaign. Practical demonstrations were conducted on the use of Rhizobium, Azotobacter, Trichoderma, phosphate-solubilizing bacteria (PSB), potassium-solubilizing bacteria (KSB), nano-urea, nano DAP, and green manuring with Sesbania (Dhaincha). Farmers were also trained on simple methods for multiplying beneficial microbial cultures using cow dung-based organic media, and scientists addressed farmers’ queries related to sustainable nutrient management practices under local farming conditions. The program emphasized on conservation of water and soil to preserve the farm fields and improve the farming conditions for the future of farming.
