Two awareness programmes on “Balanced Use of Fertilizer in Agriculture” were organized in Badamba-Narsinghpur blocks of Cuttack district in Odisha on 8th June 2026. In the forenoon, at Kaintara village of Nuagaon (near Kamaladiha, the extreme end of Cuttack district), 150 farmers (100 females and 50 males) participated, discussed the water scarcity issues. Nearly half of those farmers belong to the tribal communities, highly vulnerable to climate change. We provided climate resilient varieties of paddy and dhanicha for green manuring. In the afternoon, at Binchnabati of Godibandha panchayat, 100 farmers and the Sarpanch participated and decided to follow our protocol of dhanicha-integrated rice cultivation in the current kharif season. Dr. D. K. Panda, Principal Scientist of ICAR-IIWM coordinated both these programmes.
