An awareness-cum-demonstration programme on Balanced Use of Fertilizers (BUF) was conducted on 8 June 2026 at Kulabansahi village of Niali Block, Cuttack district, Odisha, under the Mera Gaon, Mera Gaurav (MGMG) programme by Dr. S. Mohanty, Dr. R.K. Mohanty, and Dr. Md. Shafeeq. A total of 53 farmers, including 9 women farmers, participated in the programme. Scientists interacted with farmers on issues such as declining soil fertility, rising cultivation costs, and imbalanced fertilizer use, while highlighting balanced fertilization, integrated nutrient management, composting, organic amendments, crop residue incorporation, and efficient fertilizer application for improving soil health and crop productivity. Practical demonstrations were conducted on the use of Rhizobium, Azotobacter, PSB, KSB, vermicompost, FYM, nano-urea, nano DAP, and green manuring with Sesbania (Dhaincha). Farmers were also sensitized on conserving beneficial soil microorganisms, reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers through bio-inputs and pulse-based crop rotations, and scientific fisheries management practices, including pond water quality and feeding management for better fish productivity.
