ICAR-Indian Institute of Water Management, Bhubaneswar organized a program of Live streaming for the 23rd installment disbursement of PM-KISAN and a Scientist-Farmer Interaction meeting on 20th June, 2026. It was viewed by over 150 participants including about 120 farmers coming from over fiftenn adopted villages of Cuttack, Puri and Khordha districts. Participants were made aware about the objectives of PM-KISAN in empowering farmers. Speaking on the occasion, the Director (I/C) Dr. R.K. Panda addressed the gathering and urged them to make best use of the PM-KISAN supported direct benefit transfer to purchase quality inputs for agriculture. Scientists of the Institute, Dr. S.K. Rautaray, Dr. K.K. Bandyopadhyay, Dr. S.K. Mishra, Dr. H.K. Dash, Dr. O.P. Verma, Dr. R.K. Mohanty, Dr. S. Pradhan, Dr. D. Sethi emphasized the government’s determination to extend financial support to the farming community three times every year. They also discussed the modalities for balanced use of fertilizers to address present scarcity of chemical fertilizers. The farmers were also made aware about the ‘Khet Bachao Abhiyan’ currently being conducted throughout the country to rejuvenate the fertility of soil by use of bio-fertilizers, FYM, vermi-compost, natural farming and organic farming. Cultivation of sesbania / dhanicha and application of nano-urea and nano-DAP to reduce requirement of chemical fertilizers in agriculture were also stressed upon. The problem faced by farmers were addressed by the scientists of the Institute during the farmer-scientist interaction. The Programme was conducted by Dr. S.K. Mishra, Dr. H.K. Dash and Dr. O.P. Verma.
