A farmers’ awareness programme was organized at Deuliapatna village under Jatni Block, Khurda district by the MGMG Team-2 scientists of ICAR-IIWM, Bhubaneswar on 22.06.2026 to promote sustainable and climate-resilient agricultural practices. Total 20 progressive farmers actively participated in the programme. During the interaction, emphasis was laid on the balanced use of chemical fertilizers to maintain soil health and improve crop productivity. The team also highlighted the importance of the “Khet Bachao Abhiyan” and encouraged farmers to adopt eco-friendly farming practices for long-term agricultural sustainability. Considering the possibility of a low-rainfall year due to the anticipated El Niño effect, farmers were sensitized on various moisture conservation and drought-mitigation measures. Special emphasis was given to the cultivation of dhaincha as a green manure crop for improving soil fertility and reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers. The benefits of vermi compost production and application were also discussed. In addition, rainwater conservation and efficient utilization of available water resources were highlighted as key strategies for ensuring crop security under uncertain climatic conditions. The participating farmers appreciated the programme and expressed their willingness to adopt the recommended practices.
