As part of the observance of Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh Pakhwada commemorating the 150th Birth Anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda, a Tribal Farmers’ awareness programme was organized by our institute in Village: Chargaon in Koraput district (Odisha) on “Health and Wellness”. The program aimed to create awareness on health units, nutrition, AYUSH practices, and disease screening among tribal farmers. A total of 42 male and 60 female tribal farmers from the village attended the event. A local NGO “Pragati” and ICAR-IISWC, Koraput Centre collaborated with our institute in organizing and facilitating the activities. Local Anganwadi Didi and Asha Didi explained the tribal farm women on maintaining proper health and sanitation in the village. Expert scientists from ICAR-IIWM, Bhubaneswar, ICAR-IISWC, Koraput and Team Leader from Pragati interacted with the participants and highlighted the life history of Bhagawan Birsa Munda. Participants expressed keen interest in adopting AYUSH-based lifestyle practices for improved well-being. The event concluded with a group pledge to promote health awareness and wellness in tribal communities.
