Day - 12 celebration of Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh Pakhwada by ICAR-IIWM Bhubaneswar on 12-11-2025

Description:

On Day-12 of the celebration, the expert team from the ICAR-Indian Institute of Water Management (IIWM) piloted an awareness training program on “Public Awareness Campaigns in area with predominantly tribal population” under the "Janjatiyan Gaurav Varsh Pakhwada 2025" at Saliasahi, Khurda, one of the largest urban tribal settlements in Bhubaneswar, Khurda district, Odisha. The objective of the event was to empower the tribal community through awareness and information-sharing on key social, developmental and livelihood-related issues, emphasizing public campaigns through participation, access to opportunities and overall wellbeing. More specifically, the participants were informed about the role of public awareness campaigns regarding access to government services, education, healthcare schemes, water & sanitation and livelihood enhancement programs. During the interactive session, participants shared challenges related to limited access to government information and low awareness of digital services. IIWM team encouraged community volunteers, especially youth and women, to take up leadership roles in future campaigns and to act as knowledge ambassadors within their locality. The event concluded with a collective commitment to continue fostering awareness and ensuring that every household in Saliasahi can access development opportunities for inclusive and sustainable growth. A total of 61 participants including 31 female participants were present in this awareness program.
